Since its establishment in 1998, the Brussels office has represented the Foundation in contacts with European and international institutions, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and associations, industry, academia, the diplomatic community and the media.
In our work we seek to further democracy and political and structural change worldwide by:
- Empowering “grassroots” NGOs to voice their interests and wishes at an EU level and participate as equal partners in European decision-making processes;
- Providing a platform for dialogue between NGOs and governmental institutions;
- Promoting the Green perspective at a European level.
Our activities include organising events such as the “Böll Lunch Lectures” series involving a broad range of EU stakeholders, co-ordinating visitor programmes, leading EU-focused capacity building sessions, and preparing topical publications presenting ideas and concepts to serve as a basis for discussion. The development and implementation of EU projects in strategic partnerships with local partners is also an important aspect of our work.
